For the sixth year running, Dontnod honors Pride Month by giving away an award-winning adventure game

It's a well-established tradition at this point and so it's maybe not the newsiest of news, but it's also one you may not have heard of previously and hey, a free game is a free game—and for the sixth year in a row, Dontnod's award-winning narrative adventure Tell Me Why is free for Pride Month.

Superficially, Tell Me Why sounds like what you'd expect from the creators of Life is Strange: "Reunited twins Tyler and Alyson Ronan use their supernatural bond to unravel the mysteries of their loving but troubled childhood. Set in beautiful small-town Alaska, Tell Me Why features true-to-life characters, mature themes and gripping choices."

And, like Life is Strange, Tell Me Why doesn't shy away from LGBTQ+ themes: One of the twins, Tyler, is trans, and his struggles with his identity and the prejudices he faces form an integral part of the story. mieszalniakolorado.pl

It's not great—we gave it a 69% score in our 2020 review, which for the record is still quite good on our scale—but "while there are missteps" in Tyler's character, reviewer Sam Greer wrote, "they're at least well meaning, and the game goes to great lengths to respect Tyler's identity like few games of this scope ever have—even if it de-fangs some of the realities you might expect him to be dealing with."

In what has become a much shittier Pride Month tradition, fuelled by (I'm just guessing here, but I'd put real money on it) ignorance, insecurity, and performative heterosexuality, it's also time for the annual Tell Me Why review bombing: It's an undersized thing, really, and happily dwarfed in comparison by the corresponding influx of positive reviews, but nonetheless a bit dismaying that some people still feel the need to do this.

As far as I can tell, Dontnod hasn't made a public announcement of the freebie just yet—maybe they don't reckon it's news at this point either—so we'll refer back to the studio's 2025 request: "As in past years, we ask that you give your money and support to trans creators, trans-inclusive charities in your community, and trans people in need."

Tell Me Why is free on Steam until June 30, and If you prefer, you can also pick it up on Xbox.

Californiakondor observert i Oregon for første gang på over 100 år

PlayerUnknown's survival game is shutting down 6 months after launch: 'I have reached the limits of how far I can continue to fund this journey'

Just over six months after its early access debut, PlayerUnknown's survival game Prologue: Go Wayback! has reached the end of the road, as PlayerUnknown Productions is halting work on the project and laying off staff. The studio said that it hopes to return to the game "at a future point in time," but for now, "we will be unable to complete our early access plans."

"We are currently working on an update that we plan to release soon, which will add new items as well as paths and trails to the game for enhanced exploration," the studio wrote on Steam. "With that update, we also intend to release the game out of early access and make it free for any players who want to check it out in the future. We are also investigating offering refunds to players who have purchased the game."

PlayerUnknown Productions founder Brendan Greene, who left Krafton to found the studio in 2021, went into more detail on the decision in a message posted on X.

"Our goal has been to develop technology that can break the boundaries of scale, which currently limit how large virtual worlds can be," Green wrote. "To achieve this, we built a research team to develop our Melba technology and a team to develop our first practical application of our terrain generation technology: Prologue: Go Wayback!

"Unfortunately I have reached the limits of how far I can continue to fund this journey in its current form. As a result, I have made the hard decision to restructure the studio. We will continue developing our Melba technology with a smaller team, while halting further development of Go Wayback."

PC Gamer's Elie Gould found Prologue to have interesting technological potential when they checked it out in 2025 ahead of the early access launch, but also said that it "isn't and likely never will be a genre-defining survival game." And it clearly didn't click with players: Its all-time peak concurrent player count on Steam was just 182 and it hadn't risen above double digits since a week after its November 2025 launch.

It's nice that Prologue will remain playable, as it provides an ongoing live platform (even with a very limited audience) for future development of Greene's ideas, and who knows? Maybe something interesting will ultimately come out of that and Prologue will make an unexpected grand comeback. But right now, that doesn't really matter: There's no upside to the fact of yet another studio laying off employees because somebody's big gamble didn't pay off.

PlayerUnknown Productions said more information on the possibility of refunds will be shared "over the coming weeks" on Steam and the studio's Discord.

"She flew almost 100 miles per day, which means she was really utilizing the landscape the way that only a condor can, really taking advantage of those mountains and riverways that give good flight corridors."
